As a child I was encouraged to have a "personal relationship with Jesus". This was tough to define, but it had a number of essential elements. Jesus became a friend through prayer. The Holy Spirit gave impressions from God. And, a set of stories from the Old and New Testaments became primary narratives about the world and God. My Protestant Christian denomination interpreted these stories and this became my theology.
Not long ago, my interpretation of these stories and my definition of this personal relationship changed. My first feature film titled Of Games & Escapes was inspired by this shift. You can watch it here.
I find theology a key part of my new path. Theology used to be things I knew. Now it is about questions that are leading me into a bigger room of Truth. About the physics, biology, chemistry, psychology, anthropology, sociology, religion, spirituality and how they integrate with my faith. In this blog I will reflect on and work through my Christian theology in my new state of mind.
As a side note, an additional component of this reflection is a feature length documentary on the topic of faith change and it is in post-production. More details to come.
